How to install Chatim live chat widget with Google Tag Manager

Step 1: Generate and copy the widget code

  1. Go to the "Install" page in your Chatim account.
  2. Chatim will generate a JavaScript code snippet for your project.
  3. Click on the "Copy" button to copy the code to your clipboard. This code will be needed to embed the widget.

Step 2: Google Tag Manager

  1. Log in to your Google Tag Manager account and select the container for the website where you want to install the Chatim widget.
  2. In the GTM dashboard, click on Tags in the left-hand menu, and then click the "New" button to create a new tag.
  3. Click on "Tag Configuration" and select Custom HTML from the list of tag types.
  4. Paste the Chatim widget JavaScript code snippet you copied earlier into the "HTML" field.
  5. Under the "Tag Configuration" section, click on "Triggering" to define when and where the Chatim widget should load.
  6. Select the All Pages trigger if you want the widget to appear on all pages of your website. You can also create custom triggers if you want the widget to appear only on specific pages.
  7. Once you've configured the tag and trigger, click "Save."
  8. In the top-right corner of the GTM dashboard, click "Submit" to publish your changes. This will deploy the Chatim widget on your website via Google Tag Manager.

Step 3: Test the widget on your website

  1. Visit your website and refresh the page to see the Chatim widget in action.
  2. Test the live chat and chatbot functionalities to ensure they are working correctly.

Step 4: Adjust settings and monitor performance

Return to your Chatim dashboard to monitor customer interactions, view analytics, and make any necessary adjustments to the widget's behavior, appearance, or responses based on user feedback and engagement.
