Chatim Help Center

Contact Buttons

Contact Buttons allow you to add multiple communication channels to your chat widget, giving visitors more ways to reach you beyond the built-in chat.

Requires Pro plan or higher.

Overview

With Contact Buttons, you can display a multi-button launcher that expands to show various contact options like WhatsApp, Telegram, phone, email, and more. When enabled with two or more channels, the standard chat launcher is replaced by an expandable button. On desktop, hovering over it reveals all enabled channels. On mobile, tapping the button expands the menu.

Accessing Contact Buttons

  1. Log in to your Chatim dashboard
  2. Select your project from the sidebar
  3. Click Contact Buttons in the navigation menu

Available Channels

Chat (Built-in)

Opens your Chatim chat widget. Always available and enabled by default.

WhatsApp

Connect visitors directly to your WhatsApp Business account. Enter your phone number in international format without the + sign (e.g., 14155551234 for US, 442071234567 for UK).

Telegram

Direct link to your Telegram account or bot. Enter your username without the @ symbol (e.g., yourbusiness).

Facebook Messenger

Connect to your Facebook Messenger for business. Enter your Facebook Page ID or username.

Phone

Allow visitors to call you directly (opens phone dialer on mobile). Enter your phone number with country code including + sign (e.g., +1-555-123-4567).

Email

Open the visitor's email client with your address pre-filled (e.g., [email protected]).

Custom Link

Add any custom URL as a contact option. Configure a button label and full URL including https://.

Use cases: Calendly booking link, contact form page, help center, video call link.

Configuring Channels

  • Enable/Disable — Click the toggle switch on each channel
  • Edit Settings — Click the expand arrow, edit the button label and value, then save
  • Reorder — Use up/down arrows to change display order

Best Practices

  • Only enable channels you actively monitor
  • Consider regional preferences (WhatsApp popular in Asia/Europe, phone in Americas)
  • Only enable live channels (phone, WhatsApp) if you can respond quickly
  • Keep button labels short (1-3 words) with action words: "Chat Now", "Call Us", "Email"

Troubleshooting

Buttons Not Appearing

  1. Ensure Contact Buttons are enabled (main toggle)
  2. Verify at least two channels are enabled
  3. Check that your plan supports Contact Buttons (Pro or Ultimate)

WhatsApp Not Opening Correctly

  1. Ensure phone number format is correct (no + sign, no spaces)
  2. Verify the number is registered with WhatsApp
  3. Test the link: https://wa.me/YOURNUMBER

  1. Ensure username doesn't include @ symbol
  2. Verify the username is correct (case-sensitive)
